Watch out for these scams
- "The Hook" -- Some companies will offer instant activation for your toll free number but what they don't tell you is that the number doesn't belong to you ... it belongs to them. This means if you ever switch toll free companies, you'll HAVE to change your number. Avoid this.
- "Contracts" -- Don't get tied into a contract of any length with a toll free provider. You always want the freedom to change carriers. (800number.org doesn't have contracts.)
- "The Vanity Switch" -- Some companies will tell you they have a great vanity number that YOU can get ... something like 1-800-EASY-BIZ ... when you try to register it, they'll tell you it was 'taken' but you can get a different number, yada, yada. These companies trick you just so they can get your information as a lead... Good idea for them, bad for you!
